Educational and Social Contributions

First Sri Lankan Tamil to be appointed as Professor of Tamil at the University of Ceylon.

Authored the Tamil treatise “Yazh Nool”, a scholarly and musical work on ancient Tamil music and instruments.

Advocated women’s education, moral development, and scientific temper grounded in spirituality.

Promoted inter-religious harmony and Tamil cultural renaissance through writings and lectures.

Spiritual Life and Ramakrishna Mission

He became a monk of the Ramakrishna Order, taking the name Swami Vipulananda.

His life mission was to blend spiritual values with modern education, especially for Tamil-speaking Hindus.

He served as the head of the Ramakrishna Mission in Sri Lanka, establishing centers in Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee.
